Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after man dies in Greater Manchester house fire | UK News
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man’s body was found following a house fire in Greater Manchester.
Emergency services arrived at the blaze on Windermere Road in Heaviley, Stockport, on Tuesday evening after receiving reports of a fire at a Stockport property.
Police officers were then called and discovered the body of a man inside the house.
A 64-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and enquiries continue.
The house has been secured while police officers continue to investigate the incident.
They have said they are treating the fire as an isolated incident and that enquiries into the circumstances surrounding it are ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Gina Brennand, of GMP’s Stockport district, said: “Very sadly, we can confirm that last night’s fire has led to the death of a man.
“Specialist officers are supporting the man’s family at this distressing time and our thoughts remain with them.
“While we have arrested a woman in connection with this incident, we would continue to appeal to anyone with information to contact officers.”
Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward and get in contact on 0161 856 8692, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
