The MacBook Pro is on sale for $400 off
MacBook retailers are seriously trying to clean house, y’all.
How much do you wanna bet that this could mean a new model is imminent?
Last week, conveniently aligned with the release of the new iPhones and Apple Watch, we saw some pretty wild deals on MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros. If you missed out on those sales and are now feeling major FOMO — don’t.
Snag a refurbished 2017 MacBook Pro (yes, with the Touch Bar) for a whopping $417 off at the PCMag Shop. Using code SAVE5, the 256 GB model will drop from the original price of $1,699 down to $1,282.50. (You can also opt for the 512 GB model and save $180.) That’s an insane deal — and way cheaper than Apple’s own refurb price for the same exact computer. Good find, guys.
Let’s dive into the specs for a sec: This is the 13.3-inch model from mid 2017 in space grey (the prettiest one of the bunch IMO). Its outstanding feature is Apple’s Touch Bar, a horizontal retina screen that replaces the top row of keys. Here, you can control brightness and volume, browse the web, talk to Siri, use F-keys, send iMessages, and more, as well as activate Touch ID like you would on an iPhone.
The Touch Bar is no full touchscreen, but it’s still pretty handy. Check it out:
The 2560 x 1600 display is stellar, working in tandem with an Integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 chip. (Not the greatest for hardcore gaming, but otherwise, it’s more than good enough.) Inside, its Intel Core i5 processor with 3.1 GHz is a straight up powerhouse and is ideal for creative endeavors like editing videos, graphic design, running Adobe, and other things of the like that slower laptops have trouble handling. RAM is 8 GB, you can choose between 256 GB and 512 GB of SSD, and there are four thunderbolt ports, three USB-C ports, and a headphone jack. (Take advantage of getting a MacBook with a headphone jack while you still can.)
And no, buying a refurbished device is not the same as buying a used one off Craigslist. This is a Grade A refurbished Mac, which means it’s essentially like new. However, if you really don’t trust the whole “refurbished” thing or are paranoid about keeping your new baby safe, you’ll be glad to know that a 60-day warranty comes with your purchase and can be upgraded to a two-year or three-year plan. (Just get the warranty and you can relax, okay?)
With your purchase, you’ll also receive a $50 gift card for anything else in the PCMag Shop website. New Beats headphones, anyone? Plus, shipping is free and there’s no tax unless you live in CT, NJ, TX, or NY.
Save $417 on the 256 GB model here or $180 on the 512 GB model here.
