Uber Eats app gets a cute new look with enhanced order tracking
If you’ve gotten used to the aesthetic of the Uber Eats app while ordering food for delivery, you may notice things look a little different now.
The delivery app has undergone a cute update, adding more graphics and additional details to keep track of your food order as of Wednesday.
The revamped app design is coming to mobile and desktop in 16 cities around the world, including Miami, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., in the U.S.
Now, a five-section tracking bar and animated images show how your order’s progressing. You’ll kick things off with a confirmation, then watch the app move through the preparation phase. Then, the app tracks your delivery person’s route to the restaurant, confirms pickup there, and then shows the delivery route to your door.
It’s a more animated, friendlier look for the app, showing colorful mixing bowls and cooking utensils for the prep phase, and cute little delivery bags full of food when everything’s done.
If your order is delayed or canceled, Uber says it’ll now give more details about what went wrong and what happens next.
Also, as part of the redesign, you can check in with your deliverer even before they pick up your food.
Uber cares a lot about its delivery app — which is separate from its ride-hailing services — so these might seem like slight, incremental changes. But Uber Eats is quickly catching up to Grubhub as one of the most popular apps in the food delivery space.
As far as your next delivery goes, from Wednesday you’ll have more info at your disposal, and some cutesy images while you wait.
