TL;DR: As of June 5, Microsoft Surface accessories are on sale at Best Buy. Save $21 on select colors of the Surface Pen, then bundle it with an Arc Mouse, wireless keyboard, or USB adapter to save an extra $20.

So you’re a proud new parent of a Microsoft Surface device.

With the exception of the new Surface Go 2 or Pro X, taking complete advantage of the true versatility of Surface Pro or Go devices requires the separate purchase of the Surface Pen or newer Surface Pen Slim. The latter goes for $144.99 and is rarely discounted, but Best Buy is offering select colors of the original Surface Pen for $78.99 — over 20% off.

Hitting “hot offer” and then “see more items”gives the option to save an extra $20 on other Surface accessories, most of which aren’t on sale when purchased separately:

  • Microsoft Arc Mouse for $59.99 (regularly $79.99)

  • Microsoft Surface Mouse for $29.99 (regularly $49.99)

  • Microsoft Surface Pro Signature Type Cover for $139.99 (regularly $159.99)

  • Microsoft USB-C to USB adapter for $4.99 (regularly $24.99)

  • Microsoft Surface Dock for $179.99 (regularly $199.99)

  • Wall charger for Microsoft Surface 3, 4, and Surface Book — $69.99 (regularly $89.99)

The newer Surface Pen Slim is much more akin to the Apple Pencil. It’s thinner and has a pointier tip for a better view of what you’re drawing, and provides a smoother, less-clicky experience. But aside from wireless charging and slight aesthetic differences of the Slim, it writes exactly the same as the original — for almost $70 more.

It’s the pen that converted a lot of stylus non-believers, like this writer from Forbes, to digital ink. With next to no input latency and 4,096 pressure points that respond to the lightest touch, Microsoft has captured the satisfying pen-on-paper scratch that people covet when drawing, shading, writing on a screen. (The top also acts as an eraser.) Pressing the button immediately opens Windows Ink Workspace, but it’s compatible for on-screen art or notes in apps like Adobe, Snippet, and Word.

Add the Poppy Red or Ice Blue pen to your cart and start building your package here.
