Why buy juice at the store when you can make it at home?

If you’re looking to do something to benefit your health, juicing could be a great place to start. A fresh juice allows you to get the most out of your fruits and vegetables, extracting vitamins and nutrients that would otherwise be depleted through other cooking methods. Not to mention, of course, they can be delicious and refreshing.

If you’re looking to get into the home-juicing game — good for you! You’re doing something great for your health and will also probably save a ton of money on store-bought juices that can cost up to £8 for just a little bottle. However, when it comes to making your own juices, the kind of juicer you use can really make or break your experience. Don’t worry, we’re here to help. To start, we compiled a list of the top-rated juicers according to Amazon reviews.

Things you should know: Our list is comprised of both masticating and centrifugal juicers:

  • A Masticating juicer (otherwise known as a cold-press juicer) processes juice in a slower, quieter fashion, by essentially pressing the juice out of your produce. This method generates basically no heat, so you don’t have to worry about destroying any nutrients.

  • A Centrifugal juicer uses a ‘spin’ method of juicing, which is faster and usually a bit louder than a masticating juicer. It uses centrifugal force at a high speed to extract juice from produce.

When choosing the juicer for you, the most important thing is to go by your own individual needs.

Things to consider:

  • Will you be juicing early in the morning when noise volume will be an issue?

  • Does a quicker or slower juicing experience better fit your lifestyle?

  • Do you care more about the number of nutrients than speed or the other way around?

Regardless of which type you choose, there’s one for you on our list. For our best centrifugal juicer, we chose the Sage by Heston Blumenthal Nutri Juicer, for its high quality, convenient wide-mouth chute, and outstanding reviews. Our favourite masticating juicer is the Omega J8006, for its quality and incredible versatility in terms of how many different things you can make with it.

Our budget-friendly pick goes to the Hamilton Beach (67851) Juicer, which is a great option for anyone who wants a solid juicer with all the necessary features without breaking the bank.

Read on to see which other juicers made the cut and drink up!

Extra-wide chute • Powerful • Large capacity

Sometimes leaves froth on juice

The Nutri Juicer is an inexpensive way to get power and speed in a juicer

1. Sage The Nutri Juicer

This juicer can pump out a full glass of juice — fast.

  • Dimensions:
    39 x 43 x 22 cm
  • Weight:
    6.2 kg
The gist: When it comes to quality juicing, Sage (or Breville as the company is also known) shines as a trusty manufacturer, which is why it’s no surprise this model is so popular. For a price significantly less than some other models, the Nutri Juicer delivers the same top-notch performance.
Its extra-wide feeder chute allows you to pump out a full glass of juice fast. We’re talking less-than-five-seconds fast. And with little to no preparation! Sage also claims that its patented Nutri Disc system extracts more nutrients than any other juicers, since it transfers minimum heat, protecting enzymes and allowing for maximum nutrient absorption.
Stand-out features:

  • Centrifugal
  • Extra-wide 3-inch feeder chute
  • 1,200-watt dual-speed motor
  • Patented Nutri Disc juicing system to get maximum nutrients
  • Large capacity pulp-collector
  • 1-litre juice jug with froth separator
  • Overload protection LED
  • Safety locking arm

What Amazon users have to say: Amazon user Heatherruns writes:

I juice daily and needed to replace my old juicer. I did a lot of searching and this make seemed to have good reviews. I have been using it for a couple of months, and would endorse all those positive reviews. It is quick, efficient and easy to clean, but a particular bonus is that it is quiet — my previous one sounded like a small jet taking off, so this is a vast improvement. The tip about using a bag in the pulp collector was also helpful and makes cleaning even easier.

Masticating juicer • Versatile

The Omega J8006 is one of the best slow-speed juicers out there and has a wide range of uses, such as making juice, baby food, and even peanut butter

The gist: The Omega is the creme-de-la-creme of masticating (slow-speed) juicers. Since it processes at a slower speed, you won’t miss out on any nutrients. You can juice anything from fruits and vegetables to leafy greens — but it doesn’t stop there.
The Omega will also turn nuts into nut butter (homemade peanut butter anyone?), grind coffee beans, make pasta, frozen desserts, baby food, and to be honest, we’re not sure there’s much it can’t do. Additionally, its slow speed method makes for a super quiet juicing experience.
Stand-out features:

  • Masticating
  • Processes at 80rpm
  • Powerful gear reduction that’s equivalent to a 2HP motor
  • Minimum heat build-up and oxidation promoting healthy enzymes
  • Multi-use: can be used to make a variety of snacks and foods
  • Extracts the maximum amount of nutrients
  • Easy to assemble/operate

I bought this juicer to start juicing greens. It has been extremely good for this purpose. The greens come out very dry. I also started to make ice cream with it and the texture is like the real ice cream. I recommend this juicer to anyone that wants to improve their health by juicing greens.

Compact design • Dishwasher safe • Attractive

Not the most powerful option

Good things come in small packages and that saying definitely works for this great little juicer.

The gist: The Philips Viva Collection Compact Juicer offers high levels of juice extraction in a compact design that is significantly smaller than regular juicers. Don’t let the size fool you. This device can still juice 1.5 litres in one go, and make quick easy juice, straight into your glass.
This compact juicer is also extremely easy to use and clean. Every part has been made with easy cleaning in mind, with smooth surfaces, quick assembly and an electro-polished sieve, so the pulp fibres don’t get trapped in the holes.
Stand-out features:

  • Centrifugal
  • 500 watts power
  • 1.5 litre capacity
  • Dishwasher safe

What Amazon users have to say: Amazon user Lyn o. writes:

I have found this to be a fantastic product for the cost. I have a glut of apples and have been making batches of juice, around 3 litres at a time. The juice is cloudy and there is a deposit of sediment in the bottom of the bottles when I’ve stored it in the fridge but the juice is delicious but not really like bought juice which I’m not keen on but that may be down to the Apple variety, ours are quite sharp. The Juicer is really easy to assemble and easy to wash (once you have worked out).

Fast and powerful • Luxurious design • Easy to clean

More expensive than the Nutri Juicer • Struggles to break down leafy veggies without chopping first

While it’s on the expensive side, this is a luxury juicer with the power and speed to prove it

4. Sage The Nutri Juicer Plus

Simply one of the best juicers you can get from a trusted brand name that delivers.

  • Dimensions:
    27 x 43 x 19 cm
  • Weight:
    8.42 kg
The gist: To add another Sage model to the list, we’ve got the Nutri Juicer Plus. Though it comes with a heftier price tag than the Nutri Juicer, the Nutri Juicer Plus has that ‘plus’ for a reason. Namely its powerful 1,300-watt motor and heavy grade die-cast metal body.
Like the Nutri Juicer, it has variable speed controls so you can switch depending on if you’re juicing hard or soft produce. In terms of overall quality, the Nutri Juicer is definitely top notch and great for any serious juicer looking to make a worthy investment.
Stand-out features:

  • Centrifugal
  • 1,300-watt motor
  • Variable speeds
  • 1.2 litre juice jug
  • 3 litre pulp container
  • Die-cast metal body

What Amazon users have to say: Amazon user Dora A writes:

This is my favorite machine in the house after my Miele vacuum. Since I watched a documentary about juicing online, I have completely changed my diet, feeling better and lost weight. If you haven’t tried juicing you MUST and this is a nice powerful machine to use. It will juice almost everything from strawberries and bananas to cauliflower and sweet potatoes!

Inexpensive • Uncomplicated • You can adjust pulp levels

The BLACK+DECKER Citrus Juicer is an easy and fast way to turn your favourite citrus fruits into juice that won’t break the bank

For those that are less interested in complicated concoctions and more interested in adding a fresh, citrusy treat to their day — this juicer is all you need.

You can even adjust the amount of pulp you let into your juice using the Adjustable Pulp Control. The container also goes from a container to a pitcher — when done juicing, just tip your container, pour into a glass, and drink up.
Stand-out features:

  • 0.9 litre capacity
  • Convenient measuring marks on container
  • Easy-pour spout
  • Adjustable Pulp Control
  • Pressure activated

What Amazon users have to say: Amazon user O. P. Utah writes:

Really love this little electric juicer. One tiny drawback, and I’m ok with it, is that if you don’t use the included cover, you MAY get a finger brushed up against the centre that rotates. Oh yes, a cool thing about this is that if you stop the juicing, when you start up again (same fruit, same use) it rotates the other way. Overall, I’m pleased with my purchase and it works really well on those large grapefruits.

Masticating juicer • Easy-to-clean • Moderately priced

For leafy greens only • Time intensive

This hand-crank juicer is one of the best ways to turn leafy greens like kale, spinach, and wheatgrass into nutritious juice

6. Lexen Manual Wheatgrass Juicer

This juicer is the solution for those that don’t want to spend hundreds on an expensive masticating juicer.

  • Dimensions:
    14 x 21 x 19 cm
  • Weight:
    1.36 kg
The gist: For those looking to get the most out of their leafy greens, the Lexen GP62 is the way to manually do just that. This juicer is the solution for those that don’t want to spend hundreds on an expensive masticating juicer, but also don’t want to settle for a cheap and nasty manual model.
This device is designed to be ‘simple, mobile, versatile, and easy to clean.’ Simple is right. To use, just put a juice cup under the spout, place your veggies into the chute, and start churning.
Cleaning this thing is a breeze, since all you have to do is unscrew the parts, rinse them off in the sink, and boom — you’re done. Thanks to its high juice-yield and cold-press technology, you can rest assured your greens will be nutrient-packed to the max.
Stand-out features:

  • Masticating
  • Easy, manual hand-crank method
  • Maximum nutrients via cold-press processing
  • Sturdy, quality manufacturing
  • Quick and easy clean-up

What Amazon users have to say: Amazon user Nichola mather writes:

I was a little suspect at first due to the price and all the rave reviews, could a juicer really be this good for 30 pounds? Yes it really is. I have owned a centrifugal juicer that set me back £100+ and the lexen juicer wipes the floor with it. It has become something I rely on everyday for my breakfast. I get half a litre of juice from 2 apples, a lemon and a bag of spinach. Buy this juicer!!!

Juices fruit whole • Dishwasher safe • Decent value

Vibrates too much • Hard veggies need to be chopped

The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth juicer is the no fuss solution for juicing fruits and veggies

The gist: This Hamilton Beach model is perfect for either those who are just getting into juicing or even seasoned juicers who simply don’t want to spend the big bucks.
It cranks out 820 watts of power and has a 3-inch-wide chute that you can fit whole foods into (for example, a whole apple), so you can spend less time cutting and prepping.
All of the juicer’s removable parts are dishwasher safe, which makes clean-up super easy. Plus, it even comes with a handy cleaning brush.
Stand-out features:

  • Centrifugal
  • Extra-wide 3-inch chute
  • 820-watt motor
  • Dishwasher safe

What Amazon users have to say: Amazon user Tiana Clarke writes:

My husband and I bought this just under a year ago. I’ve purposely waited this long to post a review to make sure it lasted at least a year. We love this juicer. It says it will take whole fruits and veggies but we still cut them up to prevent any damage. I also read reviews about it shaking loudly on the counters. It does tend to do this but only for a split second, at least that’s how it’s been for us. This is a mild problem and easy to overlook. You do need a very rough scrubber (which it comes with) to clean the metal piece on the inside. We do not use the little container included to hold the juice because it is way too small, so we use a 4 cup measuring cup and this works perfectly for us. I highly recommend buying this juicer instead of spending lots of money on something that does the exact same thing.

Masticating • Dishwasher safe • Quiet

Question marks over durability

There’s not a lot that this juicer can’t get to grips with, making it the perfect choice for anyone that likes variety in their juice

8. Aicok Masticating Juicer

This multi-purpose juicer can tackle pretty much any vegetable or fruit.

  • Dimensions:
    30 x 16.5 x 34.8 cm
  • Weight:
    3.4kg
The gist: The Aicok Masticating Juicer uses low speed masticating technology to ensure you get a higher nutritional value in your juice. The 150 watt motor quietly operates at 80 rpm while extracting the juice and preserving all the nutrients and enzymes that your body deserves.
The Aicok juicer’s special decelerating gear reduces vibration and noise, so it is quiet enough to go unnoticed. You also don’t need to worry about cleaning the juicer. Aicok’ juicer is easy to assemble and disassemble and clean-up should only take a matter of minutes.
The Aicok juicer ca tackle celery, ginger, wheatgrass, leafy greens, carrot, apples, oranges, and more. All these functions make this juicer a versatile option to consider.
Stand-out features:

  • Masticating
  • 150 watt motor
  • 80 RPM
  • Dishwasher safe

What Amazon users have to say: Amazon user Adam Starr writes:

Received this yesterday, currently on my 6th juice. Its handled Kale, Broccoli, Carrots, Pineapple (including core), apples, oranges, celery, lemon, lime, ginger, romaine lettuce, mint, parsley. I would recommend using a strainer on the juice before you drink it just to remove that bit of pulp that slips through, loving it so far and had no issues, very easy to clean, when taking apart you have to press a button which releases the chute for the veg to go into, makes it safe so it can not come off while juicing.
