TL;DR: The incredible (albeit expensive) HTC Vive Pro VR headset is on sale for $599.99 — a rare savings of $200 and a permanent price drop, confirmed by HTC.

The way that virtual reality offers an outer-worldly at-home experience is one of the coolest tech innovations in modern history — but it’s also one that invites the most criticism.

VR headsets can be clunky, leak light if they don’t fit correctly, have shitty graphics or peripheral views, or inconsistent motion tracking. Newbies to VR usually have to settle for a 75% cool experience to avoid paying nearly $1,000.

The HTC Vive Pro is a rare consumer VR headset that gets everything right except for the price tag. But after two years, HTC finally heard those complaints: Confirmed by this press release, HTC has officially slashed $200 off the HTC Vive Pro — and that price drop to $599.99 is permanent.

Mashable’s review of the HTC Vive Pro dubbed it the best VR headset if you’ve got money to burn. Being the best in such a volatile market isn’t an easy feat, and now that it’s a little more affordable, its specs might just seem worth the jump. Its dual OLED 2,880 x 1,600 display dwarves that of the previous Vive and offers a visual boost that you’d have to see to believe. The refresh rate could be better, but the built-in headphones will keep your focus. The upgraded padding around the lenses and adjustable head strap also make it super comfortable.

After HTC launched the Vive Pro Eye for a nauseating $999.99, many folks were awaiting the October 2019 release of the less-expensive Vive Cosmos. Unfortunately, it kind of bombed, and the fact that the classic Vibe Pro is now a more practical price is everything a VR junkie could ask for.

Retailing at $799.99 since 2018, you can save $200 and get the HTC Vive Pro VR headset for $599.99. That sale price is technically around for good, but stock will dwindle quickly when word about the discount spreads — so cop it ASAP.
