Sewing machines still in stock at JOANN, eBay, Best Buy
The last month or so has been a whirlwind of life adjustments. We can’t go out shopping anymore, we’re told to wear face masks in situations where social distancing isn’t possible, and people are picking up new hobbies to stay entertained while confined to their homes.
Because of all these factors, there’s been a surge in sewing machine purchases. Many of the usual places you’d buy one are sold out or pricing the remaining stock ridiculously high. Head’s up: A basic sewing machine should not cost you $500+, so if that’s the price you’re seeing, you’re getting ripped off. Granted, some of the more advanced ones do cost a bit extra.
There are still a couple places where you can get a good sewing machine at a pretty decent price in case you’re looking to sew your own mask or start making your own clothes.
Sew essential items or just pick up a new hobby.
JOANN has a fair amount of sewing machines left in stock, and here’s a taste of the selection. To see all sewing machines available, visit JOANN’s site.
On eBay you’ll find a range of machines from miniature tabletop ones to standard sized ones. One of the smaller machines might be good for beginners — and they’re a lot cheaper. Here are some of your options, but check out eBay for the full selection.
Best Buy has two sewing machines still in stock: the Singer commercial grade electric sewing machine for $299.99 and the Singer confidence quilter electric sewing machine for $293.99. Both are suitable for more advanced projects.
