Save $50 ahead of Black Friday
TL;DR: The Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular, 44 mm) and its always-on Retina display are $699 at Amazon — a $50 savings and likely the best sale you’ll see even through Black Friday.
The Apple Watch Series 5 when it sees other smartwatches and fitness trackers going on sale for Black Friday:
Apple has been weirdly stingy with its newest generation Apple Watch for the past few Black Fridays. In 2018, there were virtually no discounts on the Series 4 (which was the newest model at the time but had already been out for a few months). Sprint offered $100 off of it if you added a new line to your plan, but as for deals without stipulations? Nah. Instead, retailers seemed to be really pushing the Series 3, and that’s the situation we expect this year with the Apple Watch Series 5 versus Series 4.
But, in typical pre-Black Friday fashion, Amazon has discounted $50 off the Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular, 44 mm) to bring it to a less intimidating $699, the same price as the smaller 40 mm model. Saving $50 may not sound exciting, but it’s better than waiting until Black Friday to see that the Series 5 is back to full price.
Say hello to an always-on Retina display, a feature fans have been begging Apple to add for a while. This means that the screen is always illuminated and won’t make you whip your wrist just to check the time. It’s also the first Apple Watch that can call 911 from anywhere in the world and double as a legit magnetic compass. There are also many more band options, improved health apps and menstrual tracking in WatchOS6, plus the ability to take an ECG that was already there. If you have the Series 4 already, you might not even care — but if you’ve been dealing with the Series 3 for a few years, the improvements could be life-changing.
Regularly $749, you can save $50 and get the 44 mm Apple Watch Series 5 for $699.
