Head’s up, last minute shoppers: We know it feels like December started three days ago, but Christmas is officially less than a week away.

But somehow, by the grace of friendly competition, your procrastination may just be a blessing in disguise. Walmart has no chill this gifting season and has dropped the price of the new 32 GB Wi-Fi 9.7-inch iPad again — this time to $229. That’s $100 off and the lowest price we’ve ever seen on this model.

Best Buy also has this model on sale as one of their doorbusters, but it’s only $60 off. Interesting.

Released in Spring 2018 and aimed at the education sector, the 9.7 iPad is by far the cheapest way into the iPad game. Affordable devices aren’t something we usually expect from Apple (no shade), but what we do expect from Apple is badass quality — and they didn’t drop the ball when they dropped this price.

Here’s a quick rundown on what you’ll be getting:

  • A 2,048 x 1,536 Retina display and Touch ID

  • Apple’s A10 Fusion Chip — a step down from the iPad Pros, but a step up from Android phones and more than enough for everyday multitasking (and augmented reality apps)

  • Up to 10 hours of battery life, depending on how much you use it

  • 1.2 and 8 megapixel front and rear facing cameras, respectively — not the best, but who takes up photography with a tablet?

Anyone would look forward to working if it meant using this every day:

Easily the best upgrade here is that it’s the first non-Pro model to be compatible with the $95 Apple Pencil, opening a ton of new doors in the realm of creativity, note taking, and organization — whether you’re a student, creative professional, or simply a newbie, it’s the iPad for everyone.

As if this deal couldn’t get any better, it’s also eligible for Walmart’s two-day shipping — so you still have time to get gifts before Christmas without that nasty expedited shipping price. Regularly $329, you can save $100 and get it for $229.
