Samsung Galaxy Fold has a European launch date: Sept. 18

Samsung took its sweet time for this one, but we finally have a launch date for the Galaxy Fold. Well, at least in some markets.

The company’s first foldable phone launches in Korea on Sept. 6. It will be available in certain European markets — namely, France, Germany, and the UK — as well as Singapore, on Sept. 18. Finally, it will come to the U.S. in the “coming weeks,” though the company wouldn’t commit to a precise date.

Originally scheduled to launch in April 2019, the Fold was delayed several times as the company struggled to fix the issues which made the device prone to breaking. Now, the device will ship with a strengthened hinge that’s closer to the phone’s body, additional layers of metal beneath the display, an extended protective layer (which shouldn’t peel off like the original one), and reinforcements that should keep dust and other particles out of the device.

The specs have remained the same, though, and they include the 7.3-inch foldable screen, an additional 4.6-inch display, an octa-core processor, a triple rear camera, a dual front camera, 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage and (optionally) 5G support. It sounds really nice, but the price tag is quite high at $1,980.

Samsung also announced a new type of “remarkable” customer service which the Fold buyers will get. It includes “one-on-one access to Samsung experts” as well as 24/7 phone support, though it appears it will differ depending on the market.

The company also promised to share more about the Fold “during the coming weeks.”
