Porsche premieres longer, tougher electric Taycan: the Cross Turismo
A more spacious, adventure-seeking Porsche Taycan EV is coming soon.
The Taycan Cross Turismo was unveiled Thursday as the newest Porsche electric vehicle. It’s similar to the original Taycan (which was the first ever all-electric Porsche), but with more space in the front and back seats. The trunk is bigger, too. It’s also noticeably longer, with a flatter roof.
Like the Taycan, the Cross Turismo has different variants: the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, and Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo. So now there are eight different options within the Taycan “family.”
Each model of the new Taycan has two electric motors, a performance battery, and panoramic glass roof. There’s also Gravel Mode which lifts the car 10 millimeters and add suspension, traction, and stability control. Porsche doesn’t recommend off-roading, but it’s a tougher build than the original Taycan, with a protective underbelly. The sedan versions were made for the track.
But even with better suspension and clearance, the Cross Turismo can still perform. It goes from zero to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds in the Turbo S version. The slowest (and the cheapest) takes 4.8 seconds.
Coming to U.S. dealerships this summer, the Cross Turismo starts at $90,900. The standard Taycan starts at $79,900. There isn’t an estimated range yet on the 800-volt battery system. The base Taycan will hit about 200 miles on a single charge when it comes out this spring.
With the launch of the Cross Turismo, Porsche is also adding two electric bicycles to its EV lineup. There’ll be the street bike known as the Porsche eBike Sport for $10,700, according to TechCrunch, and then the more rugged Porsche eBike Cross for $8,549. The bikes will be available through Porsche dealers this spring. We’re waiting on more info about battery range.
Porsche said the bikes have carbon wheels “inspired by the roofline of the Taycan.”
