Oculus, HTC Vive, and more Black Friday VR headset deals
If you were hoping to pick up the new Oculus Quest VR headset this Black Friday — and judging by Google Trends data, everyone and their grandma is in that camp — we’ve got some good news and some bad news to share with you.
Let’s start with the bad news. We could only find one deal on the Oculus Quest, and it’s nothing special: If you order it through the brand’s website, you’ll get three episodes of Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series and access to the game’s Lightsaber Dojo mode for free — a $29.97 value. (Yeah, it’s better than nothing, but we were hoping for a more exciting discount on the Mashable’s Choice Award-winning VR headset.)
Now, for the good news: Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and GameStop are offering lots of deals on a bunch of other VR headsets this week, so if you hoped to pick one up for the gamer on your holiday shopping list, you’ve still got plenty of options.
Here’s a complete list of all of the models that are on sale for Black Friday. (Note: Prices are live unless otherwise noted.)
This standalone VR headset nabbed a Mashable’s Choice Award last year for its ease of use, simple setup, and ultra-comfortable fit. Pay Walmart a visit to snag it on sale this Black Friday: Its price will drop to just $149 (a $50 savings) on Walmart.com starting Nov. 27 at 10 p.m. EST and in stores starting Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. EST.
Sporting a sharp display and built-in headphones, this premium headset from HTC is an excellent choice for serious VR enthusiasts — and according to our friends over at BestBlackFriday.com, GameStop is slashing its price by hundreds of dollars starting Nov. 28:
This AR-VR Windows headset features dual AMOLED screens with a 3K display and 360-degree spatial audio for an immersive, breathtakingly real gaming experience. Visit Amazon ASAP to order it for only $229 — 54% off its suggested retail price of $499.99 (a $270.99 savings).
The second iteration of Sony’s modern-looking headset may have debuted in 2017, but it’s probably the biggest VR star of this year’s Black Friday sales. You’ve got several buying options to choose from:
Fueled by the Google Daydream platform, this standalone VR headset from Lenovo uses Google’s WorldSense technology to understand your movement in space (no external sensors required). Order it from Amazon today for just $299.89 — a $100.10 savings.
Google’s Daydream View VR headset is a budget-friendly option that’s powered by an Android phone. (You can use most newer Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy models.) Amazon’s Black Friday sale includes the original model as well as the second-gen Daydream View, which features additional AR capabilities:
