Nest smart thermostat on sale for $34 off (and $25 cheaper than Amazon)
TL;DR: The new Next Thermostat E is on sale for $134.99 — a savings of 20% — in the PCMag Shop.
Few things make one appreciate the comforts of modern living more so than central air conditioning on a sticky, sweltering day. And with the summer solstice just around the corner, now’s a great time to upgrade your home’s heating and cooling system with the addition of the new Nest Thermostat E.
An exceptional blend of form and function, this Nest E features a chic minimalist design that blends seamlessly into the rest of your home decor, and comes equipped with proven energy-saving technology that learns as you use it. It’ll create an automatic schedule based on your routine, and power down once you leave your abode — that way, you’re not wasting power (read: money) heating or cooling an empty house.
The energy-saving functionality of smart thermostats like the Nest E can be so impactful that your local utilities company may give you a rebate for installing one in your home. (In the San Francisco Bay Area, for instance, the Nest E qualifies for a $50 energy rebate; in Brooklyn, New York, it would nab you a $75 rebate.) In short, it’s likely to pay for itself in just a few years.
Furthermore, the Nest E is compatible with Nest’s companion app, which you can use to change your home’s temperature and keep tabs on its energy usage from anywhere. The Nest E is also fully compatible with popular voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant, meaning you can adjust your home’s temperature using just your voice.
The Nest E isn’t the only decent smart thermostat on the market, to be sure; there’s also the third-generation Nest Learning Thermostat, which offers a very similar lineup of features, plus additional compatibility with the majority of HVAC systems. But at $249, the Nest Learning Thermostat simply can’t compete with the Nest E price-wise. (And that’s taking into account Walmart’s current deal on the Learning model, which includes a free Google Home Mini worth $49.)
Amazon’s pricing of the Nest E is pretty competitive: it typically retails for $169, but the e-commerce giant sells it for $159.99. Still, we’ve got them beat: You can get the Nest Thermostat E on sale in the PCMag Shop for just $134.99 — a savings of 20%. (Don’t dawdle, though; supplies are super limited.)
