Microsoft sends out press invites for Surface event on Oct. 2

The next few weeks are shaping up to be a gadget lover’s dream.

Apple will announce new iPhones and Apple Watches on Sept. 12, Google will take the wraps off its Pixel 3 on Oct. 9, and now Microsoft is cooking something up for Oct. 2.

Joining its biggest rivals, Microsoft sent out press invites for a product event happening in New York City next month.

The invite doesn’t provide much of a hint about what to expect. It simply says, “A moment of your time” in gigantic lettering.

So what can we expect from Microsoft’s upcoming event? Last fall, Microsoft held an event in New York City to announce the 15-inch Surface Book 2.

This year, there will hopefully be updates for all of its Surface devices. The Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, Surface Studio, and Surface Book are all due for refreshes. 

The littlest Surface Go released a few months ago is unlikely to get an update, though.

One thing you probably shouldn’t hold out for: a Surface Phone. It’s time to give up on that dream. Under Satya Nadella, it’s clear the company’s strategy is to get its software and services onto iOS and Android.

Hold on to your butts, because it’s gonna be crazy!
