Leaked hands-on video reveals even more about Samsung’s Note 20 Ultra

It’s been less than 24 hours since Samsung officially confirmed its Unpacked 2020 event on August 5, and there’s already another leak. This one comes from YouTuber Jimmy is Promo, who went hands-on with what is apparently the Note 20 Ultra.

The video comes only a couple of days after he also shared photos of the same phone via Twitter. While there are rumors the Note 20 Ultra will be available in Mystic Bronze (which is basically confirmed via Samsung’s Unpacked invite), Promo’s unit comes in black.

Before we dive into the video, it’s important to note (ha, see what I did there?) that there have been rumors and renders of two Note phones floating around the internet: the Note 20 and the Note 20 Ultra.

In the YouTube description box, Promo wrote that he believes the Note 20 lineup will only be available in those two sizes, without any other sizes in between. So, it looks like Samsung may skip the “Plus” version of the Note 20 and go straight for the Ultra.

In terms of design, the video points out the Note 20 Ultra won’t be all that different from the Note 10 phone. For starters, the S Pen appears to remain the same, for the most part, but it’s apparently now housed on the left side of the bottom of the phone instead of the right. It looks like speaker has also been moved to the right along with it.

Towards the end of the video, there appears to be a new feature that allows you to use the S Pen as a laser pointer by pressing and holding the Pen button. You can customize the speed, color, and size, and then use it to select specific icons, highlight areas, and navigate around the display.

Another minor change, that took some squinting and zooming in to confirm, is the boxy shape with sharper corners. This corroborates reports from leaker Ice Universe who claimed the Note 20 would have a flat screen rather than curvy edges.

The major difference between the Note 10 lineup and the Note 20 Ultra is mainly in the camera module. Similar to the Galaxy S20 lineup, the Note series rear cameras seem to be completely revamped.

Rather than the vertical setup as seen on past Note phones, the quad camera module on the Note 20 Ultra is bigger and more rectangular.

On the S20 phones, Samsung added sensors that were up to three times larger than what was included on the S10 lineup. The larger sensors allow for better light, detail, and clarity in the photos. So, it’s highly likely the company took the same approach for the Note 20 Ultra.

But as you can see from the video, the new setup results in a fairly large camera bump. Of course, you’ll probably be able to level it out with a case.

While we don’t have specs, rumors point to a 108-megapixel rear camera — which is the same one featured on the S20 Ultra. Additionally, we might see a 6.9-inch display on the Note 20 complete with 120Hz.

Again, we’ll have to wait until August 5 and see to find out exactly what Samsung has in store but, thanks to all these leaks, the reveal probably won’t be all that surprising.
