Google brings its Podcasts app to Apple’s iOS with new redesigned look

In an effort to make it both easier and faster for you to find your favorite podcasts, Google has redesigned its app.

Rolling out to Android this week, Google Podcasts is now separated into three different tabs: Home, Explore, and Activity. And, in addition to the revamped look, Google is also making the app available for iOS users.

As part of the redesign, you’ll now find new episodes of podcasts you’re subscribed to listed under the Home tab. You can then access these episodes and immediately start listening.

When you select a specific episode, you’ll also see topics or people that’ll be covered. From there, you can trigger a Google search if you want more information.

You can tap through to new episodes of podcasts you're subscribed to right from the Home Tab.

The Explore tab helps you find new podcasts to listen to when you've run out of your favorites.

Meanwhile, the Explore tab is where you can discover podcasts under different categories, like comedy, sports, or lifestyle. It’ll also provide you with recommendations based on your listening history.

Finally, there’s the Activity tab, which gives you an overview of your podcast history, episodes you have in the queue, and automatic downloads for offline listening.

While I’m loyal to the Spotify app when it comes to both music and podcasts, Google’s revamp looks to be a lot more intuitive compared to the previous version. It should also be a lot more enjoyable to use when trying to dig through the insane amount of podcasts out there.

Google’s Podcasts app redesign comes at a very convenient time, especially given the current state our country and world. Right now, no one has the bandwidth to contend with a frustrating user interface.

We need our podcasts and we need ’em now.
