Get a new-to-you WFH laptop for cheap
TL;DR: Refurbished variants of the 2017 MacBook Pro are on sale in the PCMag Shop for up to 18% off.
There’s no “good time” for a laptop to crap out on you, but we can think of few circumstances worse than when you’re working from home full-time during a pandemic that’s shut down Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft stores across the U.S. and delayed Amazon Prime deliveries for as long as a month. Yeesh.
Things may seem dire, but even amid our present reality, you can still get a replacement laptop for cheap (and relatively fast) if you know where to look. Case in point: We found a refurbished MacBook Pro on sale in the PCMag Shop (which is owned by Mashable’s publisher, Ziff Davis) with free shipping and 5- to 7-day delivery. Better yet, it’s protected under a two-year warranty that covers accidental damage.
The MacBook Pro in question is a 13-inch model that debuted in June 2017 with a plethora of specs geared toward power users, including a stunning Retina display, a huge trackpad, two USB-C ports, and a 7th-gen Intel Core i5 dual-core processor. (It *isn’t* the 2017 MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar, to be clear, but that shouldn’t matter to anyone who just wants a powerful, competent laptop — if anything, that multitouch toolbar would just feel gimmicky.)
If you head over to the PCMag Shop ASAP, you can choose from two different configurations on sale: Get a 128GB model for only $899.99 (normally $1,099) or upgrade to a 256GB model for just $100 more (normally $1,199). Either way, you’ll be saving a solid $200.
