Eight Sleep’s new smart mattress has dynamic cooling built in
It’s probably happened to you before. You’re deep into what was supposed to be a relaxing night of rest when suddenly you jolt awake because you’re either shivering or in a pool of sweat. Even worse is sharing a bed with someone who prefers a wildly different sleeping temperature. You know somebody is getting the short straw here — and it’s probably you.
has just revealed plans for their latest mattress that seeks to solve a lot of these issues, and it sounds pretty great.
Called the Pod, this new smart mattress combines dynamic temperature regulation, biometric tracking, Alexa integration, and sleep coaching. The key feature of the Pod is the aforementioned “dynamic temperature regulation,” and yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like.
The Pod tracks and learns your sleeping habits, then adjusts the bed’s temperature for optimal comfort. So when you’re getting too hot, the Pod will cool your mattress down for you and vice versa. Temperature options range from a chilly 55° all the way up to 115°F.
The Pod also includes a thermo alarm feature that begins cooling the bed slowly before its set wake-up time in an effort to ease you into your day. Of course, the Pod will also allow users to manually adjust the temperature however they see fit.
Eight Sleep’s Pod mattress will also provide its users with an AI-powered sleep coach that enlists biometric tracking to analyze patterns and share insights on your overall sleep health. The Pod’s smart home capabilities allow it to integrate with the rest of your smart home devices too, including Amazon Echo, Google Home, Nest, and Philips Hue.
The Pod joins Eight Sleep’s previous offering, a smart mattress that tracks your sleep habits, plus a host of other accessories in the “sleep fitness” category.
Sleep hacks and technology have been picking up steam in recent years and we’re willing to bet this isn’t the last smart mattress we’ll see. Reservations for the Pod have already begun, so reserve your spot for $95 and pay the rest when it ships. Prices start at $1,995 for a full-size mattress and top out at $2,495 for a California king.
