TL;DR: This certified refurbished Linksys smart WiFI router retails for $99.95, but you can get it on sale at Walmart for just $19.95.

No WiFi router is perfect, but if your network’s got more dead spots than a graveyard, it’s time to consider upgrading your hardware.

As with most consumer technology nowadays, routers have gotten “smart” within the past couple years. Such devices are capable of being controlled wirelessly via smartphone app, meaning you can change your router’s settings and keep tabs on connected devices right on your phone.

Industry leader Linksys makes a handful of stellar smart WiFi routers, but at $90 for the cheapest model, the prices on its site aren’t exactly competitive. That’s why we recommend visiting Walmart instead: The big-box store is currently having a sale on the Linksys EA3500, a dual-band smart WiFi router. If you buy it certified refurbished, you can save $80 and get it for less than $20.

For the uninitiated, that “certified refurbished” label refers to pre-owned products that have been tested and guaranteed to work good as new, with few (if any) signs of wear and tear. In this case, that means your EA3500 router will look and function just like its fresh-out-the-box counterparts, providing the same speedy, reliable WiFi coverage on a safe network.

Now for some specifics: The EA3500 utilizes a combination of 2.4 and 5 GHz connectivity to provide a strong, fast connection (up to 300 + 450 mbps) that’s ideal for gaming and streaming alike. It also comes equipped with advanced security protocols like WPA/WPA2 encryption and an SPI firewall to keep your network locked down. And using the Linksys companion smartphone app, it’ll let you customize users’ access and set prioritized devices to your whims. (There’s even an option to create a separate, password-protected WiFi network for your visitors and guests.)

On the back of the EA3500, you’ll find four Gigabit ports and a USB port; using the included Ethernet cable, you can hook up different devices for a lightning-quick wired connection.

Certified refurbished Linksys EA3500 smart WiFi routers usually sell for $99.95, but you can snag one from Walmart today for just $19.95.
