Apple reportedly ready to launch new AirPods in May 2020
AirPod lovers could be in for a nice surprise.
On Sunday, tech rumormonger Jon Prosser, known for his impressively accurate Apple forecasts and YouTube channel Front Page Tech, reported that a new generation of AirPods are ready to launch — possibly as early as next month. Representatives from Apple did not immediately respond to Mashable’s request for comment.
According to Prosser, the surprise AirPods were to be announced (alongside a slew of other products and updates) at a March 31 event Apple had to cancel due to coronavirus. Now, Prosser says they’re eyeing debuting the product with the new 13-inch MacBook Pro in May.
New AirPods (which were supposed to be at the March Event) are now ready to go.
Probably alongside the MacBook Pro next month.

Prosser didn’t offer any details on the source of his prediction, and has said relatively little about what the product will entail. However, it should be noted that this appears to be separate from Apple’s speculated over-the-ear headphones announcement — and numerous tech analysts are treating Prosser’s info as heralding the release of AirPods Pro Lite.
According to multiple sources of speculation, AirPods Pro Lite (a name never officially confirmed by Apple) would give consumers many of the benefits of the second generation AirPods at a much lower cost. At present, AirPods Pro sell for $249 from Apple.
