Apple isn’t waiting for the official start of the WWDC keynote to change things up.

Ahead of expected software updates and changes to be announced on the stage today at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, the company has quietly renamed the iPad’s iOS. The new and exciting name? iPadOS.

The change was picked up by astute Apple watchers, and shared on Twitter.

It’s not unheard of for Apple to change the name of its operating systems. If you recall, iOS was originally called iPhone OS way back in the day.

In a lot of ways, the change makes perfect sense as it allows for a more clear distinction between iOS and what is now iPad OS.

Tune into the WWDC keynote today at 10 a.m. to catch more fun Apple surprises and updates.
