If the words Mac Pro don’t ring any bells, maybe the words “cheese grater” will jog your memory. On Wednesday, Apple announced its new desktop will finally be available in December.
While Apple originally unveiled the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR in June at the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference, the company remained tight-lipped on specific launch dates.
Please don’t actually grate cheese on this.
Starting at $5,999, the Mac Pro packs Intel Xeon processors with up to 28 cores and 1.2 terabytes of RAM. It also comes with eight PCIe expansion slots and two Radeon Pro Vega II Duo graphics cards. The infamous holes on the front are for its internal fans, allowing the tower to stay cool and quiet.
Meanwhile, the Pro Display XDR features a 32-inch 6K Retina display with 10-bit color, 1,600-nit brightness, and 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. As for pricing, this impressive machine can be yours starting at $4,999.
The Pro Display XDR costs $4,999. No, that’s not a typo.
Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t revealed the exact day in December the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR will be available, but you’ll be able purchase it through the company’s official website.
But if you’re looking for a more portable setup, Apple also released its first 16-inch MacBook Pro on Wednesday. Starting at $2,399, it comes with six speakers and a Magic Keyboard that’s, hopefully, more reliable than the old butterfly keyboard.
