TL;DR: As of June 29 (until midnight), the all-new and Fire HD 8 Plus tablets are both on sale for $30 off — grab one for $59.99 or $79.99, respectively.

Milestone alert: The new tablets in town just got their very first discounts.

Released in early June, the Fire 8 HD and Fire HD 8 Plus tablets are now on sale for $59.99 and $79.99, respectively — that’s $30 off apiece — as part of one of Amazon’s Deals of the Day. (Mind you, that last part means you definitely shouldn’t dawdle if you’re thinking of getting one — these savings won’t be available after midnight tonight.)

The standard Fire HD 8 tablet is an 8-inch device that gets you 2GB of RAM; your choice of either 32GB or 64GB of storage (which is expandable up to 1TB with a microSD card — that’s huge); and a 2.0GHz quad-core processor that’s 30% faster than previous-generation Fire tablets, or so Amazon claimed in a press release. Its all-day battery life offers up to 12 hours of mixed-use battery life on a single charge, and it sports a USB-C port that can juice it up in five hours or less. (For comparison’s sake, the 2018 Fire HD 8 tablet offered up to 10 hours of use per charge.)

Also of note: There’s an all-new “Game Mode” that turns off notifications when enabled so you don’t have to deal with distractions while you’re playing (or working/reading/ignoring life’s responsibilities).

This puppy starts at $59.99 for 32GB of storage (down 33% from its $89.99 MSRP) and comes in your choice of four colors: black, white, plum, or twilight blue.

For $20 more, you can upgrade to the Fire HD 8 Plus to score an extra gigabyte of RAM on top of all those aforementioned specs. It supports wireless charging with a compatible dock (which you can buy separately for $39.99 or bundle with the HD 8 Plus for $119.98), or you can use the included 9W charger to get it to 100% battery in four hours or less.

The Plus model comes in a snazzy new slate hue, and you can grab one today starting at just $79.99 (down 27% from its $109.99 MSRP) for 32GB of storage space.
