The flight data and voice recordings from the Leicester City helicopter crash have been downloaded, investigators say.

Club owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was among five people killed in the tragedy on Saturday.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said it had been able to retrieve information from the helicopter’s black box even though it had been subjected to “intense heat” in the fire.

The AAIB lifted the wreckage from the crash site next to Leicester City’s King Power Stadium on Thursday night.

It has been taken to the AAIB headquarters in Farnborough, Hampshire, where a more detailed examination can be carried out.

In footage from inside the ground, the helicopter is seen taking off from the pitch, climbing above the stands before starting to spin and plunging from view.

The AAIB has thanked people who responded to its appeal for witnesses and said investigators were examining videos and photos.

The other four people killed in the crash were employees Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, pilot Eric Swaffer and his partner, Izabela Roza Lechowicz, who was also a professional pilot.

It was reported by Thai media that the club owner’s body has arrived in Bangkok before his funeral – which is set to last a number of days – begins on Saturday.

Leicester boss Claude Puel has said players would be given the opportunity to travel to Thailand for the funeral.

Striker Jamie Vardy, speaking for the first time since the crash, told Sky Sports News: “It’ll be massively important we attend.

“We are a close-knit group and one big family and one of the main reasons for that is Vichai, so it’s massively important.”

He added: “He wasn’t just a chairman, he literally was part of your extended family.
