Two people have been charged after a 52-year-old man was stabbed to death in front of his son on a crowded train in Surrey.

Darren Pencille, 35, from Farnham, has been charged with the murder of Lee Pomeroy following the stabbing on Friday, British Transport Police said.

Chelsea Mitchell, 27, of Willbury Road, Farnham, has been charged with assisting an offender.

Lee Pomeroy was pronounced dead in the carriage at Horsley station after suffering multiple stab wounds in a “violent killing” on a train travelling between Guildford and London Waterloo.

A manhunt followed and arrests were made at a nearby address on Saturday morning.

Police say they do not believe the attack was random.
