Suspected illegal immigrant arrested after being found stowing away on school trip coach

A suspected illegal immigrant has been arrested after being found in the luggage hold of a coach returning from a school ski trip.

The 29-year-old man was found when the coach returned to St John’s School in Marlborough, Wiltshire, on Saturday morning.

The pupils at the academy school had been on a skiing trip in the French Alps.

Police were called and the man was arrested by officers before being handed over to the Border Agency.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to St John’s School in Marlborough at around 11.30am on 5 January due to a report of a man being found on a coach.

“A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of entering the country illegally and the matter has now been passed to the UK Border Agency.”

News of the arrest comes on the same day eight migrants were found in Kent, after an unattended rubber boat was spotted on the beach at Dungeness.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal entry into the UK.
