A manhunt has been launched after a rapist serving a life sentence absconded from an open prison.

Wayne Jones absconded from HMP North Camp, a Category D open prison at Frieston near Boston in Lincolnshire, on Sunday evening.

Police are warning the public not to approach the 39-year-old, described by police as “5ft 7in tall, of small build, with brown hair and brown eyes.”

Lincolnshire Police say he has a scar under his left eye and a tattoo on his left wrist.

“If you see him, do not approach him but call Lincolnshire Police on 999, quoting incident 367 of 25 November,” the force said.
