Princes William and Harry and their wives to spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham

Princes William and Harry and their wives will spend Christmas with the Queen this year.

It comes amid speculation about where the two royal brothers would celebrate the festive season following rumours of a strained relationship between Meghan and Kate.

There were reports that William and Kate would spend Christmas with the Middleton family while Harry and Meghan would join the Queen and the rest of the royal family at Sandringham.

But it is understood that both couples will spend the Christmas period with Her Majesty on the Norfolk estate.

Rumours of strife between the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex have been the subject of media reports in recent weeks.

There have been allegations of a dispute over who reprimands staff, as well as tensions during Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting.

Harry and Meghan’s move from London to Frogmore House in Windsor, Berkshire, was reported to have reflected the discord between the royal wives.

Kensington Palace declined to comment on the claims.

The festive period is an important time for the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, who annually welcome family and friends to their Norfolk home during December and the New Year.

In previous years, William and Kate spent some Christmases with the duchess’ parents Michael and Carole Middleton at their Berkshire home.

But they have chosen to join the Queen this year in what will be viewed as a sign of unity by royal watchers.

Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, a yoga instructor and social worker, could be among the guests invited to join the royals at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham.

It had been assumed that Harry and Meghan would take a Kensington Palace apartment before the arrival of their first child next year, making them neighbours of the Cambridges.

But the couple have instead decided to move to Frogmore House on the Queen’s estate.

The property, near the royal mausoleum which is the resting place of the Duke of Windsor and his wife Wallis Simpson, is currently undergoing a renovation ahead of the couple’s arrival next year.

In a recent interview, former First Lady Michelle Obama gave Meghan some public advice.

More from Duchess of Cambridge

“So my biggest pieces of advice would be to take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything,” she told Good Housekeeping.

“I spent the first few months in the White House mainly worrying about my daughters, making sure they were off to a good start at school and making new friends before I launched into any more ambitious work.”
