Paul Gascoigne has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault by touching following an alleged incident on a train.

The former England footballer was arrested at Durham station on 20 August and was charged last month.

“A man is due to appear in court next month charged in connection with the sexual assault of a woman on board a train from York to Durham,” British Transport Police said in November.

Gascoigne protested his innocence on Twitter, saying he had stepped in to comfort a woman who had been called a “fat cow”.
