Meghan and Harry share new photo of Archie to mark International Mother’s Day | UK News

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have posted a new photo of baby Archie to celebrate International Mother’s Day.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s picture, on the sussexroyal Instagram account, shows the duchess’ hand cupping the baby’s feet against a background of green leaves to mark what is her first Mother’s Day.

Today marks International Mother’s Day, which is not one widely celebrated in the UK.

The post says: “Paying tribute to all mothers today – past and present, mothers-to-be and those lost but forever remembered.

“We honour and celebrate each and every one of you. Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan and several countries across Europe.

“This is the first Mother’s Day for the Duchess of Sussex.

“Quote from ‘lands’: My mother was my first country; the first place I ever lived.”

By mid-afternoon on Sunday the post had received more than 800,000 likes and several thousand comments.

Messages in response included one from livelovelyfe365 who mentions Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, saying: “Happy Mother’s Day Duchess Meghan and Ms Doria. We love you guys! And look at Sweet Baby Archie’s free. I love him.”

Another, angela_lang, wrote: “Look at those precious baby feet! Wishing you a beautiful Mother’s Day.”

Meghan gave birth to Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor at 5.26am on Monday 6 May.

The new arrival, weighing 7lb 3oz, was introduced to the world on Wednesday and as he was cradled by Harry.

Meghan said her son had the “sweetest temperament”.

When asked about her experience of becoming a new mother, the 37-year-old duchess replied: “It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing, and I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.”

Harry, 34, beamed as he added: “His looks are changing every single day.

“Parenting is amazing.

“It has only been two or three days and we’re so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy.”
