Boy, 16, stabbed to death in Coventry

A 16-year-old boy has died after being stabbed in Coventry.

West Midlands Police say a murder investigation is under way after the teenager was killed on Saturday night.

The boy was taken to hospital but was confirmed dead a short time later.

Two other teenagers, who were less seriously injured, were taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Superintendent Matt Markham said the force were determined to find out why the killing had happened.

“We are talking about the terrible loss of a 16-year-old boy, someone who had their life to live, and we will be working round the clock to find who was responsible,” he said.

“We are following a number of active lines of enquiry and would urge that anyone with information which could assist our enquiries to call us as soon as possible.”

Police have urged anyone with any information to call 101 or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The area of the incident, on Deedmore Road, Wood End, has been cordoned off while investigations continue.
