A 10-year-old boy has died after getting into difficulty in a loch in the Scottish Highlands.

Emergency services were called to Loch Lubnaig, near Callander, at about 5.30pm on Wednesday following reports of a child experiencing difficulty in the water.

They were unable to save the boy.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal,” said a Police Scotland spokesman.

Loch Lubnaig is a small freshwater loch in the Stirling council area of the Scottish Highlands.
