Aya Hachem: Three more arrested over Blackburn student mistakenly killed in drive-by shooting | UK News

Three more people have been arrested over the murder of a 19-year-old law student who was mistakenly killed in a drive-by shooting in Blackburn.

Innocent passer-by Aya Hachem was hit by one of several shots fired from a vehicle as she walked to a supermarket near her home. She died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Police say two men, aged 31 and 35, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and that a man aged 29 has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They are all being held in custody after being detained in the Blackburn area on Tuesday evening.

Three other men from Blackburn – aged 39, 33 and 36 – were arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday and remain in custody.

The Lebanese-born teenager, a second year student at the University of Salford, died in hospital a short time after emergency services were called to the scene in King Street on Sunday afternoon.

Detectives have said several videos of the incident are circulating on social media and urged people to formally submit them rather than continuing to share the footage online.
