Appeal after man critically injured in ‘unprovoked’ attack in Marylebone, London

Police have issued a photograph of a man left critically injured in an “unprovoked assault” as part of a renewed appeal to find out who was responsible.

The victim was found unconscious in Bulstrode Street in Marylebone, London, at around 5.20am on 19 August.

He has since been identified as a 23-year-old from Westminster and he remains in a central London hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Officers have informed his next-of-kin, but no arrests have been made and detectives are asking the public for help in identifying a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

CCTV images released by Scotland Yard appear to show a man with a dark beard, wearing a jacket with the hood up and a pair of blue jeans.

Detective Chief Inspector Christina Jessah said: “This was a completely unprovoked assault on a young man walking home after a night out.

“The level of injury caused will have a significant impact on the victim and his family.

“I would urge anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV still to do the right thing and call us.”
