‘Abusive and hostile’ low-flying paraglider sought by police in Sussex

A paraglider who is “abusive and hostile” to members of the public as he flies low over a Sussex seafront is being sought by police.

The man allegedly “intimidates people” and is “generally behaving in an anti-social manner”, officers said.

Reports of him causing criminal damage and obstructing the highway in southern East Sussex have been received for two years.

He uses Galley Hill, Bexhill-on-Sea, as a launch site.

After Sussex Police appealed for information on Facebook, Samantha Small wrote: “He flies really low, he’s a social nuisance!”

And Babs Stallard said: “Cut his ropes!!!”

Officers are working in conjunction with the Civil Aviation Authority.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who has seen or experienced aggressive or disturbing approaches from this man,” said Sergeant Simon Barden.

:: Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting Operation Surfer.
