Le Wand’s Double Vibe has two motors for double the fun

One of my first sex toys was a bullet vibe. It was fuchsia, battery-powered, and had a sloped edge like a lipstick tube. I bought it at a sex shop in New York City and felt like a kid taking home a prize fish from a carnival.

But, like a carnival goldfish, the vibrator died quickly. Looking back now, I’m actually glad about that — because there’s a host of amazing small vibrators out there (categorized “bullet” or otherwise) that are sleeker and, more importantly, stronger than what a triple-A battery could muster.

It’s well on its way to being one of my new favorites.

Case-in-point: The new Le Wand Double Vibe. Like other toys from the brand Le Wand — my favorite being their wand vibrator — the Double Vibe is a hit. It’s a great toy and well worth its $130 price. I found one snag, but that didn’t deter my enjoyment that much, and it’s well on its way to being one of my new favorites.

Tiny but mighty

Double Vibe fits in your palm at merely 3.34 inches long and 2.16 wide. Two motors act as its “bunny ears.” Choose from four colors: rose gold, dark cherry, black, or white/gold.

The vibe is waterproof and submergible in water up to three feet for less than 30 minutes, so feel free to take it in the bath. Clean the toy with antibacterial soap and warm water, or put a toy cleaner directly on it.

Charge the Double Vibe via USB. While it came fully charged in the package (and said as such in the product manual), a full-charge lasts 90 minutes and requires two hours of charge time.

You control the vibe with three buttons: on (+), off (-), and an “o” button in the middle. Turn on the toy by pressing the + button for a few seconds, and do the same with the – button to turn it off. You control the intensities with the +/- buttons as well.

The “o” button, which lights up when the toy is on, allows you to change patterns with just one press. While tiny, Double Vibe has 15 vibration modes packed in it — from dual motors. The product manual breaks down all the modes, from steady vibrations to pulses of varying lengths:

The “X” on settings 2 and 3 indicate when one motor is off (and the other is running). As evidenced in the manual, the motors run different patterns on settings 11 through 15 as well.

Here comes the snag: I didn’t feel the difference. Even on the toy’s lowest setting — which Le Wand advised me to do to — the bunny ears felt the same. This didn’t hinder my experience, but it was something that stuck out given the manual is so clear about what the patterns should feel like.

Double Vibe comes with a textured sleeve to place on the ears for a different sensation, as well as a suede storage pouch. The sleeve produces only a slight difference in sensation, so I can take it or leave it.

Travel lock the toy by pressing the on and off buttons at the same time for five seconds (when the vibrator is already off). Many, but not all, vibrators I’ve used in the last few years have a lock, but the feature should be standard. It gives peace of mind that your vibe won’t accidentally turn on in your suitcase. I’m glad such a travel-friendly vibe has the option. The LED light on the “o” button will flash twice to indicate it’s locked. Repeat to unlock, or automatically unlock by charging.

Double the pleasure, double the fun

Though Double Vibe be little, she is fierce. This isn’t your typical bullet or small vibrator, perhaps hinted by its weight: 138 grams, which is about the same as an iPhone 12 mini. That heft is due to compacting dual motors in such a tiny space, and I’m here for it.

Even on the lowest setting, Double Vibe is powerful — more powerful than, say, the first setting on a wand. Couple that with the small surface area of the ears, which allow you to pinpoint your clit more than a wand head, and you’re in for some intense sensations.

This toy is versatile, however, in that you can experiment with how and where you want the toy. Similar to a clit-sucker, you can settle the twin ears around your clit, so it’s getting the vibrations indirectly; they’re strong enough that it’s still pleasurable without actual contact.

Or, you can have direct clit stimulation: Pinch the ears together to feel the motors together (gasps will ensue and thoughts will cease), or even just touch one of the ears to your body for a slightly-less-but-still-rumbly sensation.

This is why not being able to feel varying patterns wasn’t a huge drawback for me: I can maneuver the toy myself to switch up the experience. If anything, this issue is a testament to how robust the motors are. Perhaps my clit (and nipple, and fingers, and arm where I tried the toy) isn’t as sensitive as other people’s, so you may feel the motors do their thing.

Double Vibe is also a lot of fun if you enjoy nipple play. Use it the same way as you would on your clit.

Given the two motors, the toy actually may be too much for some right away. If that’s the case, I suggest warming yourself up with your hand first, then progressing to Double Vibe — or even trying a more mellow toy in-between, such as Unbound’s Pep, which has a wider surface area and slower vibes on the lowest setting. Double Vibe is capable of many things, including multiple orgasms, so there’s no rush. You can build your sensation tolerance over a (masturbation or partnered) session and top it off with Double Vibe.

Another marvel about the vibe is that, despite the hummingbird speed, it’s relatively quiet. No toy will ever be completely silent, but Double Vibe’s purrs are quieter compared to, say, a wand’s roar.

Between the noise and compact size, Double Vibe can make you cum without being the star of the show during time with your partner (or maybe it is, because it’s that good).

Should I buy Le Wand Double Vibe?

Le Wand has impressed me again with Double Vibe. The toy isn’t just joining my mainstay vibrator rotation, but with a travel lock and storage pouch, it’ll be my go-to travel vibrator going forward as well.

For the size, noise-level, number of vibration intensities and patterns, and overall power of this toy, I believe Double Vibe is well worth $130. I understand, however, if it may be out of some people’s price range. If you’re looking for a budget sex toy, this won’t be the one.

Should you have the budget and enjoy rumbly toys just as much as me, though, definitely consider Double Vibe for your next toy purchase. It’s exponentially better than a battery-powered bullet.
