Get a sneak peak at what’s going on sale
Amazon knows it has total control over us and we are mostly OK with that. The company has been toying with us in anticipation for by slowly rolling out daily deals meant just for Prime members.
But our benevolent overlord Jeff Bezos is throwing us a bone by giving us an early look at which Amazon devices will be on sale for Prime Day. Plus, you’ll find select device deals starting early on July 14 at 12 p.m. PT/3 a.m. ET (a full 12 hours before Prime Day’s official start). Check back to our Prime Day page to see those as soon as they roll out.
Basically, Amazon is giving itself a head start to rake in some cash and stir up excitement.
For Prime Day, we will see Echo, Blink, Kindle, and Fire products on sale — at some pretty killer prices, we might add. One of our favorite picks this year is the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote for $14.99, plus you’ll be able to save $50 on the Kindle Paperwhite.
Not a Prime member? Get on that — you’ll need to be to access the deals.
Here’s what you’ll be able to score on sale during Prime Day:
Echo devices
Echo is what put Amazon’s Alexa on the map. Since its launch, the device family has flourished to include different versions of the smart assistant to fit virtually everyone’s needs and wants. You’re able to ask Alexa questions, play music, control smart home devices, make calls, and a ton more. And those are just the basics. Some models, like the Echo Show, have screens, so you get all that smart assistance plus the added convenience of visual displays.
The Echo Dot was a game changer because of its discreet size and affordable price. Amazon went ahead and made a version for children with kid-friendly content and parental controls. As far as smart home essentials go, an Amazon Echo is top of the list. In preparation for Prime Day, you can save on the Echo, Echo Show, and Echo Dot Kids Edition right now.
Fire TV
The Fire TV Stick has given us the ability to turn any television into a smart TV. The device plugs into your TV’s HDMI port and loads it with access to your favorite streaming services and web browsing. You can literally experience tens of thousands of channels, apps, and Alexa skills. And you can browse with just your voice, using the Alexa voice remote.
Tablets
iPads can be pretty pricey if you’re just looking for a basic tablet to perform everyday tasks. The Amazon Fire tablets provide a decent alternative with vibrant displays and 10-hour battery life. Plus, they’re sturdy as hell and can withstand drops and everyday wear and tear. For Prime Day, Amazon’s lineup of Fire tablets are going to be on sale for $100 or less — those are some amazing prices. There are also even better savings when you buy in bulk.
Kindle
E-readers give you the ability to carry all of your favorite books with you wherever you go. The all-new Kindle is small enough to fit in your bag and features a glare-free display that reads like real paper, even in the brightest environments. A single battery charge last weeks, so you don’t have to worry about a dying device cutting into your reading time. You can even pair the Kindle with Audible to listen to audio books.
Home Security
Home security has gained popularity with the introduction of smart security cameras. Obviously Amazon had to jump on that trend — what’s a smart home device without Amazon all over it? The Blink XT2 has your home covered day and night, and can be set up indoors or outside. It features two-way audio, so you can communicate with any intruders, delivery people, or anyone else that might be in or around your home.
In addition to Amazon devices, the official press release also gave us a taste of more great deals for this year. Here are some of our favorites:
