Learn from an expert for less than $10
TL;DR: This beginner-friendly online guitar class taught by “Guitar Sage” Erich Andreas is on sale for a mere $9.99.
Attention all aspiring guitar players: Many hours spent jamming to “Barracuda” on Rock Band 3 does not a professional musician make.
That’s not to say expensive, in-person classes are your only option when it comes to mastering the ol’ six string, though. With the Complete Guitar System from Udemy, you can take a series of expert-taught guitar lessons at home right on your personal computer for less than $10.
Led by self-proclaimed “Guitar Sage” Erich Andreas — you might know him from his popular YouTube channel — this education is geared toward both total beginners and more experienced guitarists who wan to brush up on their skills. It spans nearly 35 hours of step-by-step video content, covering finger-picking, licks, chord transitions, and a variety of other technical topics along the way, and includes 156 downloadable resources you can refer to at any time — even outside of your lessons.
Andreas aims to “have you playing the guitar in the shortest amount of time while having the most fun,” but just know that his class won’t turn you into Jimmy Page overnight. (That’s right — you actually have to practice.) But follow his videos in order and do your best to establish good practice habits and you’ll be well on your way to an intermediate or advanced skill level in no time.
With 4.4 out of 5 stars on the Udemy website, it’s safe to assume that Andreas’ approach to teaching works. Student Justine Ruysschaert writes:
“This way of learning at my own pace has motivated me to persevere and keep practicing everyday. Something I couldn’t get myself to do with real life classes. I also like Erich’s enthusiasm. He knows that the first few months of getting down the basics are the hardest.”
The Complete Guitar System is valued at $199.99, but you can score it for just $9.99 when you enroll in the PCMag Shop. (They’ll send you an email with access to the course; check your Trash and Spam folders if you don’t see it in your inbox within two hours.)
Note: Mashable and PCMag are both part of Ziff Media Group.
