Save $804 on this renewed MacBook Pro from Amazon
TL;DR: This trusty renewed MacBook Pro is valued at $1,199, but you can get it for just $395 on Amazon.
Trends come and go, but some things will never go out of style — like Levi’s jeans, or handwritten thank-you notes, or meme-ifying whatever the Trumps did this week.
And then there’s the MacBook Pro MD101LL/A laptop. It’s a veritable antique at seven years old, but it remains a solid option as far as personal computers go due to the fact that it’s the last Apple laptop ever to be sold with a disc drive and an Ethernet port. Plus, even though its RAM is pretty limited at just 4GB, people on Amazon say you can easily (and inexpensively) upgrade its storage yourself.
Apple doesn’t sell the MD101LL/A anymore, but you can snag one that’s been renewed (i.e., refurbished) on Amazon for a whopping $804 off its retail price. It’ll still work and look good as new, and you’ll keep your wallet comfortably padded — a total win-win.
Now, for some dirty deets: The MD101LL/A features a durable aluminum body, a 13.3-inch, LED-backlist display, and a battery that’s capable of running for up to seven hours on a single charge. Along with the aforementioned Ethernet port and disc drive, it’s got a built-in Thunderbolt port and two USB 3 ports on its flanks that you can connect to external displays, as well as a headphone jack. (Take that, new smartphones.)
Inside of the MD101LL/A, you’ll find a 2.5 GHz Core i5 dual-core processor and a 500GB hard drive, along with 4GB of installed RAM.
Amazon reviewer Donald Pachinger writes:
“I prefer the old MacBooks because of their durability and the fact that they have a disc drive. Digitalizing everything is idiotic and short-sighted. This refurbished model works wonderfully and I am much happier with it than the $1200 notebook that can’t do anything that I had bought prior to this.”
Renewed MacBook Pro MD101LL/A laptops are valued at $1,199, but you can get yours on sale from Amazon right now for just $395 — a 67% savings.
