Apple’s new $5,000 monitor doesn’t come with the $1,000 stand
Yes, you read that headline correctly. Apple charges $1,000 for a stand for its $5,000 monitor.
Apple unveiled its latest and greatest Mac Pro today at WWDC, and in case you ever had any doubt the company confirmed that, yes, it is incredibly expensive. What shocked the assembled developers and press, however, wasn’t the computer’s $5,999 price tag or even that the display is another $4,999. Rather, it’s the fact that on top of all that the Pro Stand costs an additional $999.
“The all-new Mac Pro starts at $5,999 and will be available to order in the fall,” confirms an Apple press release. “Pro Display XDR starts at $4,999, the Pro Stand is $999 and the VESA Mount Adapter is $199.”
So, you know, you could always go the wall mount route and save a cool $800. Which, LOL.
But then, of course, you wouldn’t be able to freely spin your $5,000 monitor around like a fidget spinner on its $1,000 stand. So, you know, the stand it’s got to be. You never needed that grand anyway.
