In the past 66 years, the general public’s ability to trace their family tree from home (in a matter of weeks, no less) has gone from something that sounds like a sci-fi movie theme to being a best seller on Black Friday.
As of February 2019, more than 26 million people in the U.S. have done an at-home ancestry test — more double the 12 million counted in 2017, which was a milestone of its own. After people cross a test off of their own bucket list, they can move on to a DNA test for their dog.
DNA testing companies are celebrating National DNA Day by making at-home DNA testing even more accessible than usual. Giants like AncestryDNA, 23andMe, and more are putting kits on sale for up to $68 off, making them as affordable as 50 or 60 bucks.
