Good news for Apple Music subscribers with an Amazon Fire TV: the music streaming service and media streaming devices now play nice together.
Three months after launching on Amazon Echo smart speakers, Apple Music is now available on Fire TV devices in the US. To set it up, enable the Apple Music skill inside the Alexa app and link your accounts. If you already enabled the Apple Music skill for use with an Echo device, you can start listening right away without having to go through the setup process again.
From there, you’ll be able to ask the virtual assistant to play whatever you want to hear on Apple’s music streaming service with commands such as “Alexa, play today’s hits on Apple Music” or “Alexa, play music by Bebe Rexha on Apple Music.”
If you live in the UK, don’t feel too left out. Amazon says that Apple Music will also be available on Fire TV and Echo devices there “in the coming weeks.”
Apple Music, which now boasts 50 million songs, earned an “excellent” rating in PCMag’s review. We like its large music library, exclusive content, offline playback feature, Siri and Apple Watch integration, and more.
“Apple Music’s many features make this service a strong contender in its category, one that challenges our Editors’ Choices, Slacker Radio and Spotify,” we wrote.
Meanwhile, several Amazon Fire TVs earned our coveted Editors’ Choice recommendation, including the Fire TV Cube $119.99 at Amazon, Fire TV Stick 4K $49.99 at Amazon, and budget-friendly Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote.
