iOS 12.1.2 reportedly causing cellular data connectivity problems
There’s trouble in iOS paradise.
Apple’s 12.1.2 iOS update, rolled out Tuesday, appears to be causing more problems than the fix was intended to solve.
Multiple users on Twitter are complaining that the iOS update is bricking their phones by cutting off cellular data. First reported by Forbes, there are now multiple user complaints on Twitter about their iPhones’ inability to connect to cellular data after updating to the latest version of iOS.
Thanks @Apple @AppleSupport for the Christmas present…since updating my iPhone to iOS 12.1.2 I can’t access cellular data. I reset my device and now I can’t activate it anymore. No Service. Your better fix this in an update soon! ?

You’re not the only one. After update 12.1.2, I had no cellular data. I tried inserting my SIM card again, hard resetting my device, and tried resetting the network settings. Nothing happened and the problem persists.

Experiencing this myself, no connection to cellular data. You have a paper weight once you leave wifi. If you are using an iPhone I would recommend NOT updating to iOS 12.1.2 #iphone #iosupdate https://t.co/9KlAvAJpsK

There are multiple threads on the Apple Support Twitter account with users reaching out for help with the cellular data problem. The account appears to be directing them to restart and update carrier settings.
Mashable has reached out to Apple for confirmation that this is a widespread issue, and to ask whether a fix is coming anytime soon. We’ll update this when and if we hear back.
You’re in good hands with us here! Are you unable to connect using cellular data? Does this happen in all locations? Also, do you happen to see “No Service” or “Searching” at the top of your screen? Let us know more in DM, and we’ll pick back up with you there. https://t.co/GDrqU22YpT

According to Forbes, Apple released this update in the first place to fix a problem with connectivity in Turkey on the newest iPhone models. But the fix seems to have made everything worse: users across the world, on multiple models of iPhones, apparently can’t reach their cellular networks.
If you want to avoid rendering your phone useless, maybe hold off on downloading the new update for now.
