In 2017, Ford sold an astonishing 896,764 F-Series trucks in the US. An all-time, single-year high for a model that has a history of setting records.
That makes F-Series the best-selling vehicle in America in 2017. Just like it did the year before. And the year before that. And 33 years before that.
In total, the F-Series has been America’s best selling truck for 41 consecutive years and its best-selling vehicle overall for the past 36 years.
And the F-Series is well on its way to taking the top spot once again in 2018. Through October, Ford has sold 749,456 of the trucks and is ahead of last year’s pace.

To give some background: Ford unveiled the original F1 pick up on January 16, 1948. Since then, the F-Series has been Ford’s biggest success and most important product, even more so than the iconic Mustang. Since 1977, Ford has sold more than 26 million F-Series trucks in the US.
In the 21st century, Ford sells a pickup for every single minute of the day. In 2017, that number was more than a truck and a half per minute, Autoweek reported.
Besting its rivals the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, and the RAM line up of trucks. Japanese offerings such as the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan can’t even come close to the F-Series.
Let’s take a look at the 70-year-long run of the best-selling car in American history: the Ford F-Series.
