All of Amazon’s Fire Kids tablets are on sale just in time for back-to-school shopping
Deal pricing and availability subject to change after time of publication.
SAVE UP TO $70: Amazon’s Fire Kids and Kids Pro tablets are on sale for up to 40% off as of July 12.
Your back-to-school shopping list will run up a slightly higher tab than usual, says a new study from the consulting firm Deloitte — spending for the upcoming school year is projected to jump to an average of $612 per child, up 16% from $529 in 2020, largely because digital learning tools are replacing traditional school supplies both in and out of the classroom. (So long, No. 2 pencils — hellooo, touchscreen styluses.)
Now, for some good news: Amazon will cut you a deal on a kid-friendly tablet ahead of the start of the fall semester to take a little bit of the edge off your BTS bill. As of July 12, all of its Fire Kids and Kids Pro tablets are on sale for up to 40% off, with two models sitting at their all-time-low Prime Day prices at the time of writing.
Not sure which one’s right for your kiddo? Here’s a quick refresher:
FIRE KIDS FAMILY

Geared toward ages 3 to 7, the standard Fire Kids tablets each come with onboard parental controls, a two-year worry-free guarantee, and a durable Kid-Proof Case with a built-in stand. (Choose from three colors: Blue, Pink, or Purple.) Amazon’s also nice enough to throw in a year’s worth of Amazon Kids+ (normally $2.99 a month for Prime members), an all-in-one subscription that includes access to over 20,000 fun apps, games, books, videos, and audiobooks.
Take your pick from three different models:
A great budget-friendly pick, 2019’s entry-level Fire 7 Kids is a 7-inch tablet with a 1024 x 600 display, a 7-hour battery life, a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor, and 1GB of RAM with 16GB of storage space. (That’s expandable by up to 512GB if you add a microSD card, sold separately.)
Typically $99.99, you can order one today for just $59.99 — that’s a 40% savings and an exact match of its all-time-low Prime Day price.
The slightly fancier Fire HD 8 Kids from 2020 features an 8-inch HD (1280 x 800) display, a faster quad-core 2.0 GHz processor, a 12-hour battery life, and 2GB of RAM with 32GB of built-in storage (expandable by up to 1TB).
Amazon has it on sale for only $89.99, which is 36% off its usual retail price of $139.99.
A 1080p full HD (1920 x 1200) screen, a zippy octa-core 2.0 GHz processor, a 12-hour battery life, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal memory (expandable by up to 1TB) make the entertainment-friendly Fire HD 10 Kids the premium pick of this bunch.
It normally retails for $199.99, but if you’re quick, you can score it on sale for just $129.99 — a 35% savings.
FIRE KIDS PRO FAMILY

Introduced this past April, the “Pro” versions of Amazon’s Fire Kids tablets give kids ages 6 to 12 a little more freedom to learn and explore on their own — all under the watchful eye of Mom or Dad, of course. Each one comes equipped with a filtered web browser, a digital store where they can request apps, and support for voice/video calls in addition to that two-year worry-free guarantee and yearlong Amazon Kids+ membership. Plus, their sleeker, slimmed-down cases come in four different styles: Black, Sky Blue, Intergalactic, or Doodle.
These bad boys feature the exact same hardware specs and pricing as their non-Pro counterparts — only the content and case patterns are different. Keep scrolling for a quick link to each one:
A $99.99 value, Amazon has the Fire 7 Kids Pro on sale for its all-time-low Prime Day price of just $59.99 — a 40% savings.
Order this one off Amazon for just $89.99, or 36% off its $139.99 MSRP.
Three of the four Fire HD 10 Kids Pro variants were sold out when we last checked, but Amazon will still let you place an order now to lock on its sale pricing: Snag one for just $129.99, or 35% off its suggested retail price of $199.999.
