How to get a third-gen Echo Dot for 99 cents
SAVE $39: While supplies last, new subscribers can get a third-gen Echo Dot for just 99 cents when they sign up for a month of Amazon Music Unlimited ($7.99 for Prime members or $9.99 for non-members).
Amazon loves to bombard shoppers with deals on its Echo devices every Prime Day, and this year it’s getting a very early head start.
About a month or so ahead of the retailer’s much-hyped shopping event — it’s confirmed to be going down sometime in June — Jeff Bezos and pals will give you a third-gen Echo Dot for just 99 cents when you sign up for a single month of Amazon Music Unlimited, its premium music streaming service featuring 70 million songs. (Subscriptions for Prime members cost $7.99 a month, while everyone else pays $9.99 a month.) The device itself normally retails for $39.99, so this limited-time offer works out to some pretty serious savings.

Note that it’s only available for first-time Amazon Echo customers and that your plan will auto-renew at the same monthly rate, but you’re free to cancel or change it at any time.
Released back in 2018, the bestselling third-gen Dot is Amazon’s most popular smart speaker to date. (At the time of writing, it had a 4.7/5-star rating on the site with close to 944,000 perfect reviews — casual!) It’s not quite as powerful as the newest Echo Dot, which debuted last fall, but a 1.6-inch all-range driver and an extremely capable Alexa smart assistant that allows for voice control make it an excellent pick for anyone who’s new to the whole smart home thing. (Here’s Mashable’s official review of it.)
FYI, the last time we saw anything remotely similar to this deal was back in July 2020, when Amazon was giving away 99-cent Echo Dots with the purchase of two months of Amazon Music, so be sure to hop on it while supplies last.
