The Google Pixel Slate is $300 off and comes with a free keyboard, pen
TL;DR: As of Mar. 3, you’ll save $300 and score a free keyboard and pen when you buy a 64GB Google Pixel Slate with 8GB of RAM and an Intel Core m3 processor off of Amazon.
Ever wish your laptop offered the touchscreen convenience of a tablet, or that your tablet was as powerful as a laptop? You’re the perfect candidate for a 2-in-1 (or hybrid) laptop, which is exactly what it sounds like: a machine that combines the functionality of both devices.
Most tech brands have at least one horse in the metaphorical 2-in-1 laptop race — see: the Lenovo Flex and Microsoft Surface lineups — and we cover lots of 2-in-1 laptop sales here on Mashable dot com. But very rarely do we see deals that are as good as the one Amazon’s offering on the Google Pixel Slate: The 64GB model that comes with 8GB of RAM and an Intel Core m3 processor normally retails for $799, but if you order it right now, you’ll pay just $499 and get a free Pixel Slate keyboard and pen to go with it (a $199 and $99 value, respectively).
Whatever the opposite of highway robbery is called, that’s how we’d describe this sale.

To refresh your memory, the Pixel Slate is a 12.3-inch tablet Google released in late 2018 with the goal of helping users “do more in a fresh, mobile form”: “We combined a touch-first user interface, optimized Android apps and powerful desktop-style features in Chrome OS to deliver a no-compromise device,” reads a Pixel Slate press release from the company’s blog. Its spec lineup included some surprisingly loud front-facing speakers, two USB-C ports, and a responsive fingerprint reader.
It all seemed great on paper, but tech reporter Ray Wong wasn’t all that impressed with the Pixel Slate when he reviewed it for Mashable: Sure, its hardware was quite nice — Google’s been building its own for a while now — but buying something like the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 would get you an overall better device for the same-ish price. (That seemed to be the general consensus among most reviewers, per The Verge, and Google ceased production on a second-gen Pixel Slate in 2019 to focus on its Chrome OS laptops instead.)
All of that being said, the Pixel Slate isn’t a shitty tablet by any means — just an average one that’s best suited for light computing tasks. If you’re a casual tablet user who’s a fan of the Chrome operating system, Amazon’s deep discount and free accessories probably make for a pretty tempting offer.
