Get Microsoft’s Surface Pro 7 and a free keyboard cover for under $800
TL;DR: The new Microsoft Surface Pro 7 has better graphics than the Surface Pro 6 and is on sale with a free keyboard cover (a $159.99 value) at Amazon for $793.48 — a total savings of $236.51.
Laptop and tablet brands just aren’t as generous as they used to be with accessories. Apple be like “Hey, this iPad now works with the Apple Pencil — you gotta buy it separately, though. Also, it’s $100.”
Microsoft was pulling the same stunt with the keyboard cover for one of the new iterations of its 2-in-1, the Microsoft Surface Pro 7. This model is the cheaper entry point that sits alongside the glorious Surface Pro X, which also debuted in late October 2019. But is it really entry level if the keyboard cover that makes it an actual laptop replacement is an extra $159?
While Microsoft’s website is still charging that full price, Amazon is offering the i5, 128GB model with the type cover included for $793.48. Not only is that just over $100 off the tablet itself, but also waives the $159 for the keyboard — a total savings of $236.51.
This model’s predecessor, the Microsoft Surface Pro 6, was tough to beat. Declared by Mashable as “the 2-in-1 perfected,” the Surface Pro 6 featured unprecedented quad-core performance in an entry-level laptop and clocked speeds faster than a MacBook Pro.
The Surface Pro 7 is powered by Intel’s new Ice Lake 10th-gen CPUs. These just came out in late November 2019, so you’d be getting the absolute newest tech in the Surface Pro 7 — plus, early benchmarking is showing that they offer better integrated graphics than the Intel HD 620 graphics of the Surface Pro 6. Also, to everyone who complained about the Surface Pro 6 not having a USB-C port: The Surface Pro 7 does.
The Surface Pro 7 also affords up to 10.5 hours of battery life, which is essentially a whole work day and then an episode or two of The Crown afterward.
Regularly $1,029.99 for the tablet and the type cover, you can save $236.51 on the i5, 128GB model with the keyboard and get them for $753.48.
