Get the 2017 model for under $700
TL;DR: Amazon has Apple’s 2017 MacBook Air on sale for a mere $699 right now. It’s normally $999, so you’ll be saving 30%.
We’ve been spoiled with a lot of good laptop deals this Black Friday, but Jeff Bezos’ holiday pricing on an older model of the ultra-portable MacBook Air just might take the cake.
For a limited time, Apple’s 128GB MacBook Air from 2017 is on sale on Amazon for only $699 — that’s 30% off its suggested retail price of $999. (Want a newer model? This year’s MacBook Air is also on sale for Black Friday, and it’s only $100 more.)
The 2017 MacBook Air’s main selling points are its lightweight, razor-thin design; its 12-hour battery life; and its multitasking-friendly dual-core Intel Core i5 processor. If we had to pinpoint its ideal user, we’d say it’s probably best suited for a student or office worker — basically, anyone who doesn’t need super intense processing or graphics. (Power users should look into getting a MacBook Pro instead.)
FWIW, we found the 2017 MacBook Air on sale at Walmart, too, and for even cheaper — except Walmart’s version is a *refurbished* model, not a brand new one. There isn’t anything wrong with buying a refurbished laptop — that just means it’s a pre-owned device that’s been tested to work good as new — but if you want a 2017 MacBook Air that’s never ventured out of its original packaging, Amazon is the only place you can get it on sale right now.
Oh, and don’t wait too long — the site’s Black Friday sales are known to go quickly.
