Facebook is working on a dark mode version of its Android app
Facebook is developing a dark mode version of its Android app.
This is according to researcher Jane Manchun Wong (via Android Police), who dug into the app’s code and discovered some parts of the app have been reworked to have a dark background.
The bad news is that the dark mode appears to be in early stages of development, with only some screens in the app being anything close to finished, meaning it could take a while until we actually see the finished product.
Check out the image below to see some elements of Facebook’s UI in (unfinished) dark mode.
Facebook’s Messenger got a dark mode version in March, but the main Facebook app remained blindingly white. Given it’s among the most popular apps around, an option to enable dark mode and save your eyes as well as battery life would be very welcome.
